Two arrested with fake currency notes in Kishangaj

Kishanganj, Jan 30 (UNI) Police have bursted a racket of counterfiet currencies and arrested two people at Mohiuddinnagar village under Kishanganj police station.

Police said about lakhs of fake Indian and Bangladeshi currencies were recovered from them.

Kishanganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Sunil Kumar Sinha told newspersons here today that acting on a tip-off police had conducted raids in the village and arrested the duo, who were said to be the kingpins of the entire racket.

Police said Bangladeshi currency worth 3.5 lakh Takas and Indian currency worth Rs 1.80 lakhs, all of Rs 100 denominations, were confiscated.

Mr Sinha informed that the counterfiet notes have been sent to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for verification and cases have been registered against them under both Conservation of Foreign Exchange and Prevention of Smuggling Act (COFEPOSA) and Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).

The SP also disclosed that the accused were suspected to be involved in the cattle smuggling to Bangladesh.
