Total bandh in AP district: minor incidents reported
Hyderabad, Jan 30 (UNI) The Khammam district today observed total bandh as the bandh call given by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) district unit protesting against the police firing on party activists, in which five persons received bullet injuries, with minor incidents reported in some places in this district.
Police said the CPI(M) activists pelted stones on the buses in Khammam town and broke the window panes of the two state-owned Road Transport Corporation (RTC) buses. In Bhadrachalam Division, police arrested several party leaders and actvists. Schools, Government offices and other insitutions were closed and the bus services were suspended in this district.
The other opposition parties, including Telugu Desam Party(TDP) and Telangana Rasthra Samithi (TRS) also supported the bandh call given by the CPI(M) yesterday.
Speaking to newspersons here, CPM State Secretary BV Raghavulu demanded the Government order judicial probe into the incident and take action against the officials concerned immediately.
The TRS senior leader and former Union Minister A Narendra condemned the police firing on the activists of the left party and demanded the Government announce an exgratia of Rs one lakh to the families of each injured person.
