Three naxalites arrested; huge explosives seized

Malkangiri, Orissa, Jan 30 (UNI) Three naxalites were arrested and huge explosive materials and other modern gadgets were seized from them during an encounter with the Special Operation Group(SOG) at Poplur village under Chitrokanda police station late last night, police today said.

Malkangiri Superintendent of Police H K Lal said the SOG also destroyed the naxalite camp after a heavy exchange of fire. While some of the naxalites managed to escape, three were overpowered and arrested by the SPG.

He said the naxalites opened fire at the SOG near Poplur during a combing operation. The SOG retaliated, attacked the naxal camp and destroyed it.

The arrested naxalites were taken to Chitrakonda police station for interrogation, Mr Lal said.
