Surgical hub in Bengal
Kolkata, Jan 30 (UNI) West Bengal government, with assistance from UNIDO fund, will set up an industrial hub for 600 tiny surgical units in Phultala, South 24 Parganas district.
Speaking at the sidelines of a programme here today, Dr Sujan Chakrabarty, MP, said,''United Nations Industrial Development Organisation(UNIDO) has provided Rs 7 crore for development of this hub, comprising 600 tiny units, from various parts of the district.'' The hub will house a common facility centre, training and skill development cells, high tech machineries and space for the units and other basic infrastructure. This hub would developed on Italian model.
The tiny units, which had been selected from various parts of the district, manufacture surgical equipment like scissors and forceps.
The hub would be operational in March this year.
