Rathi gang member arrested, pistol seized
New Delhi, Jan 30 (UNI) In a major blow to the dreaded 'Rathi gang', involved in numerous inter-state crimes across Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, police arrested one of its prime movers Sanjay Rathi from Kapashera area of South-West Delhi and seized a pistol.
The arrest of Sanjay Rathi (35) close to Uppal's Orchid in Kapashera was made following a tip-off, police said today.
''A 315 bore pistol with cartridge, a jeep and a fake driving licence were seized from him.'' Involved in criminal activities since 1988, Sanjay Rathi had escaped from the Haryana Police custody in Panipat in 1998, police added.
Meanwhile, in another incident in the same district, police arrested five dacoits, including a 60-year-old, planning to rob a Dasrathpuri doctor's clinic from Dabri.
The arrests were made after exchange of fire between the dacoits and the police party which challenged them.
A country-made pistol, knife and house breaking tools were recovered from them, said the police.
