Question bank names 'Kasturba' as Gandhi's mother

Tikamgarh, MP, Jan 30 (UNI) An inquiry has been ordered into Father of the Nation Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi's mother being named as Kasturba (actually his wife's name) instead of Putlibai in the Rajiv Gandhi Shiksha Mission's Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan's Hindi question bank for the eighth standard.

Page five of the question bank has a multiple-choice poser about Mahatma Gandhi's name. The correct answer, according to the question bank, was Kasturba.

''The matter has been brought to my notice. It will be ascertained whether it was a proof-reading error or done on purpose,'' said the Mission's Madhya Pradesh Director M K Singh.

Meanwhile, District Collector Manish Shrivastav said the district has 456 secondary schools and 932 of 992 question banks have been distributed.

''The mistake is unforgivable and strict action should be taken against the guilty,'' Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Akhand Pratap Singh said.
