Prohibitory orders in Chennagiri following clash

Davanagere, Jan 30 (UNI) Prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC were imposed last night in Chennagiri, 60 Km from here, after a clash between two communities, in which two people were injured.

Police said a minor altercation turned into a clash, in which members from the two communities pelted stones at each other. Police fired shots in the air to quell the mob.

Four platoons of Karnataka reserve police and aditional force from Davanagere was rushed to reinforce security in the affected area.

The administration has convened a peace meeting today to restore peace.
