Political parties camapign hard for 144 PMC and 10 PCMC seats
Pune, Jan 30 (UNI) Campaign for the 144 seats for the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and 105 seats for the industrial belt of Pune Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to be held on February 1, ended peacefully, barring few incidents at 1700 hrs here today.
The campaign saw leaders from all parties campaigning hard for every seat. Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, NCP President Sharad Pawar, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and the newly formed Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray were among the star campaigners for their respective parties at different wards and city's Sarasbaug Area.
Political analysts predict that Congress would emerge as the single largest party in PMC getting 60-65 seats, NCP 16-18, BJP 15-20, Shiv Sena 8-10, RPI 12-14, MNS 3-5, Independent 8-10, while in PCMC also, Congress appears to be riding high with the people wanting a change from the present establishmet.
