PAP can vote in wards with their names in voters list

Mumbai, Jan 30 (UNI) Over 50,000 project-affected people (PAP), who have been shifted to Govandi, Mankhurd and other areas will be able to exercise their franchise in one ward either in previous or current residential area, where their name figured in the voting list.

Additional Municipal Commissioner (eastern suburban) Kishor Gajbhiye today said in M-east ward there were more than 50,000 people including those shifted from the side of Mithi river, Poisar river and infrastructure development affected people in the city.

''We are convincing them that they can exercise their franchise either at their previous or current residential area, where their names would figure in the voters list. A person whose name does not figure in voting list at both the residential places would not be allowed to vote,'' informed Mr Gajbhiye.

There were PAP in areas also in the eastern suburbs like Kurla and Kalina. But, majority of them are residing in Govandi and Mankhurd area, Mr. Gajbhiye added.
