Motor vehicle inspector arrested taking bribe

Patna, Jan 30 (UNI) Vigilance sleuths today arrested motor vehicle inpector(MVI) Rajesh Kumar when he was takign bribe of Rs 10,000 at Rajabajar under town police station area in Motihari of East Champaran district.

ADG Vigilance Neelmani said here that the bureau was keeping an eye on the activities of Mr Kumar following complaints against him of demanding bribe from vehicles coming from other states.

He said motel owners on the borders of Motihari, Gopalganj and Muzaffarpur were acting as agents of the MVI and involved in realising money from vehicle owners in the name of tax.

An owner of a motel expressed his desire to join the network for which the inspector had demanded Rs 20,000 from him. The motel owner informed the vigilance department which caught Kumar red handed when he was receiving Rs 10,000, the first installment of the bribe.

Mr Kumar was being brought here for interrogation.
