Microsoft launches 'Windows Vista' and '2007 Office System'

Mumbai, Jan 29 (UNI) Microsoft today announced the launch of Windows Vista and 2007 Office System.

Briefing the media here, Chairman, Microsoft India, Ravi Venkatesan, said that ''We want to see technology help each individual in unlocking their true potential and these new desktop technologies which are intuitive, easier to use, more secure and much more fun overall will truely redefine user experience''.

Both the the flagship products, that promise to have additional features attached to them unlike the earlier versions from the company like Windows XP or Windows Office, will be available for consumers from today onwards at the select retail outlets all over the country, he added.

Original euipment manufacturers including HCL, HP, Lenovo, Sahara, Wipro and Zenith are launching a range of Vista compatible PCs to provide people with the widest range of hardware options. The prices of the new products begin at Rs 22,500.

The minimum requirement for the PC to install the new operating systems is 512 MB RAM.

Though denying to compare the new products with the rival company Linux' recently launched products, Managing Director of Microsoft Corporation India Pvt Ltd, Neelam Dhawan, said that ''There are already more than 15 lakh devices and peripherals on the market that work with Windows vista, including more than 2,000 that are Windows Vista certified''. Citing some of the unique features of the products she said that security, ease of usage are the qualities that differentiate them from other company's products.
