Martyr's day observed with due solemnity

Barrackpore, Jan 30 (UNI) People today observed Martyr's Day all over West Bengal on occasion of the 59th death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

West Bengal Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi, grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, offered floral tributes at the base of the Martyrs column at Gandhi Ghat in North 24 Parganas.

Earlier, the governor along with the state's irrigation and waterways minister Subhas Naskar along with school students attended a all faith prayer meeting, where excerpts from epics of different religions were enchanted.

Mr Gandhi in a public meeting urged the people to follow the path of the Bapu.
