Martyrs day observed in Tripura

Agartala, Jan 30 (UNI) Martyrs' day was observed throughout Tripura today in memory of those who sacrificed their lives for the country's freedom struggle.

At the stroke of 11 am, as sirens wailed, people observed a two minute silence to pay their homage. Traffic came to a halt on the streets and work in factories and even in the AIR Doordarshan Kendra stopped for two minutes.

School Education Minister Keshab Majumder observed the day by paying floral tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhighat near here in the morning.
