Jabalpur, Jan 30 (UNI) Bharatiya Jan Shakti General Secretary Prahlad Patel today said the party would emerge stronger with former Delhi chief minister Madanlal Khurana as its acting president.

''With Mr Khurana as its acting president, the party will derive special advantage in New Delhi and Punjab where he is quite popular.

His experience and guidance will be immensely beneficial in the upcoming elections in Punjab, Uttarakhand and the polls for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi,'' Mr Patel told UNI here.

He said the BJS was fielding candidates in 60 out of 70 assembly seats in Uttarakhand, while it will contest from 33 seats in Punjab.

The party will fight from more than 150 wards in the MCD polls.

Mr Patel claimed that the party would make substantial gains in forthcoming polls, as it had become stronger in Uttarakhand and New Delhi.

The BJS leader said a meeting of party office bearers would be held in Hardwar on February 5 to discuss preparations for Punjab and Uttarakhand assembly elections.

BJS President Uma Bharti will also attend the meeting.

He added that party workers from Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh will be given the responsibility for poll campaigning in Punjab and Uttarakhand.
