Hectic campaigning by political bigwigs in Manipur

Imphal, Jan 30 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA cahirperson Sonia Gandhi are among the political stalwarts expected to campaign for the assembly elections in the state, beginning February 8.

Union Ministers Mani Shankar Aiyar, Oscar Fernandes, B K Handique, P R Kyndiah and others were busy making trips to the state in view of the elections.

The details of the Prime Minister and Ms Gandhi's visit are being worked out, Congress leaders said.

Meanwhile, BJP national president Rajnath Singh is scheduled to arrive here on February 2. Party vice-president Venkaiah Naidu and senior leader Sushma Swaraj are also expected to visit the state ahead of the election, sources said.
