EC calls for fresh nominations for Valtoha segment in Punjab

Chandigarh, Jan 30 (UNI) The Election Commission of India (ECI) today called for fresh nominations for the Valtoha Assembly constituency, where the election was deferred following the death of CPI candidate Kulwinder Singh in a road accident yesterday.

According to a spokesman of the state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) office here, the nominations for the Assemby segment would open after the notification wss issued by the ECI. The last date of filing of nominations will be February seven, followed by scrutiny the following day.

The last date of withdrawal would be February 10 and the polling would be held on February 24. Counting of votes would take place on February 27 along with other Assemby segments.

Polling in the 116 Assembly segments and the Amritsar Parliamentary by-election would be held as per schedule on February 13.
