College Dean suspends nursing students for ragging

Chennai, Jan 30 (UNI) The Dean of the Government Stanley Medical College today suspended 21 second-year nursing students of the college for allegedly ragging junior students recently.

Official sources said, the ragging incident took place at the hostel of the college for a week from January 20, in which they harassed the first year students.

When the news about the ragging leaked out, the college administration constituted a three-member high-level committee to probe the incident.

The committee after conducting a detailed enquiry with the affected students and others, submitted its report to the Dean Mustaq Ahamed Khan.

Based on the committee's report, Dr Mustaq today ordered the suspension of the students. The Dean, however, considering the future of the students, refused to divulge their names.

The Dean issued stringent warning to the students that if they indulge in ragging, they would be dismissed from the college, the sources added.
