CM urges civil servants to resolve people's issues

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 30 (UNI) Reminding that the government servants should be more vigilant in implementing the government policies, Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today suggested the main duty of administrators would be to find a permanent solution to the problems of people.

Addressing a conference of District collectors and department heads, he asked the officials to take prompt action on people's grievances.

Pointing out that unnecessary delay would lead to corruption, he said to wipe out corruption officials should take all steps with utmost vigil.

Alleging the officials were negligent in implementing the government decisions and reaching it to the bottom level, he warned that such actions would not be encouraged in any way and the secretaries should ensure whether the files closed time boundly by the departments departments.

The aim of the government was to create two lakh employment in the Information Technology sector in five years, he said and asked district collectors to acquire lands to establish satellite IT Parks.

Stating that the government had to receive Rs 2,000 crore in 15,000 cases as sales tax, he asked the revenue officials to take urgent steps to realise the amount considering the financial crisis of the state.
