Srinagar, Jan 28 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government today attached two top police officers to ensure unbiased and fair investigations in a missing case, an official spokesman said.

An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and a selection grade constable (driver) have also been arrested in this connection, he added.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal H R Parihar and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP-Operations) Ganderbal Bahadur Ram have been attached with the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, in the Abdul Rehman Paddar missing case.

On January 23 this year, a missing report of Abdul Rehman Paddar, a resident of Larnoo in Anantnag district, was lodged at the Batmaloo police station, the spokesman said. Paddar had reportedly gone missing from Srinagar on December 8, 2006.

During the course of investigations, he said Paddar's family members reported that he was in possession of a mobile phone.

Further investigations led to the recovery of the mobile phone which was being used by Abdul Rashid Wagay, a resident of Kathpora Hajan, Sonawari in Baramulla district, the spokesman added.

He said the phone was given to him by ASI Farooq Ahmed Gudoo, a resident of Pethrompora in Ganderbal, and at present posted with the Special Operations Group (SOG) Ganderbal.

The ASI and selection grade constable (driver) Farooq Ahmed Paddar, posted in the District Police Lines, Srinagar, have been arrested in this connection, the spokesman added.

The case has now been entrusted to the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Central Kashmir Range. It was earlier being investigated by a team headed by Superintendent of Police (South) Uttam Chand.

The DIG will conduct further investigations into the case, the spokesman added.
