Need of a movement to preserve Arunachal's culture: Rijiju

Itanagar, Jan 27 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh MP Kiren Rijiju today stressed upon the need to launch a rigorous movement to preserve the state's rich indigenous faith and culture, without which tribal entity will be at stake.

Speaking on the occasion of sixth Nyedar Namlo Day at Doimukh today, Mr Rijiju said efforts should be done from all quarters to conserve and preserve this rich culture.

''Our forefathers have done a lot for us and it should be our moral duty to continue with their efforts in popularising traditional customs, culture and faith among the forthcoming generation,'' he said.

Calling for unification among all tribal groups of the state, Mr Rijiju urged the people not to be swayed away by 'outside forces' trying to destabilise the social fabric.

Rajya Sabha MP Nabum Rebia speaking on the occasion cautioned the people to be on guard of outside invasion trying to send indigenous culture, belief and faith into the back seat.

''We never criticise others religion and so they must not,'' he commented while calling every sections of the people to respect each other's faith and belief.

Stating that a section of people was trying to divide the society in the name of religion, Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society of Arunachal (IFCSA) president Tony Koyu called upon the elite section of the society to help restore the indigenous faith and belief.

Central Nyedar Namlo Research Centre director Tana Showren in his keynote address highlighted the importance of Nyedar Namlo (religious institutions of Nyishi community) in uniting the people of various faiths and belief.
