Auto drivers gherao Transport Commissioner's office in AP
Hyderabad, Jan 27 (UNI) Demanding that the Andhra Pradesh government scrap GO 213, making installation of digital meters mandatory, the Anti-auto digital meters struggle committee today gheraoed the Transport Commissioner's office in the city.
Leaders of the committee along with other unions of autorickshaw drivers went to the Commissioner office located on the busy Khairatabad road and stalled the work in the office.
Rushing to the spot, police arrested the leaders and members of the autorickshaw unions to prevent untoward incidents.
Meanwhile, Committee President Amanullah Khan threatened that the agitation would be intensified if the government failed to concede their demands.
Labour Unions affiliated to the Left parties expressed solidarity to the autorickhaw drivers strike, which entered the sixth day today to press their demands.
