Amarinder seeks blessings of deities for polls

Chintpurni, HP, Jan 27 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today paid obeisance at the historic temples at Jawalaji, Chintpurni and Bangla Mukhi and sought the blessings of the deities for the assembly elections in the state.

Striking a note of optimism, Capt Singh said a strong wind in favour of Congress party was blowing in Punjab and the party would win at least 74 seats. A recent survey conducted by an independent organisation, had also given a clear mandate to the Congress in Punjab.

While talking to mediapersons at Jawalaji, the Chief Minister said from February 5 Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will tour the state for two-days and would address rallies, one each at Jalandhar and Amritsar. Likewise AICC president Ms Sonia Gandhi would also address four rallies, two in Malwa and one each in Doaba and Majha regions.

Capt Singh said his family had a very old association with the Jawalaji temple as in 1763, his ancestor Baba Alla Singh had taken 'jyot' (holy flame) from the Jawalaji temple. This 'jyot' was still burning at Burj Baba Alla Singh in Qilla Mubarakh in Patiala city.

He said the Congress was asking for votes on the basis of the development work done during the past five years.
