Midnapore, Jan 26 (UNI) Tension ran high at Salboni village in Midnapore district as police cordoned off an import link road of Morum after discovery of a tiffin box suspected to be coverup explosives planted by Maoists.

West Midnapore's Superintendent of police Raja Rajshekharan said the bomb disposal squad was informed immediately after the locals first noticed an unclaimed tiffin box and many Moaist literatures on Morum road under Lalgarh police station.

Police had found incriminating literatures from the spot which suggests Maoist link in the incident. The suspicion was strong since the Maoist rebels in past had planted landmines in simmilar fashion, police added.

Mr Rajshekharan said the cordon off will remain until the bomb squad cleared the area.

Moaists had also warned the local people against celebrabting the Republic Day or else face dire consequences, they added.
