Rajasthan celebrates Republic Day with gaiety and enthusiasm

Jaipur, Jan 26 (UNI) Rajasthan Governor Pratiba Patil hoisted the tricolour amidst tight security arrangement today on the 58th Republic day, held for the first time outside the state Capital.

Ms Patil took salute from the various wings of the state police, NCC cadets and the volunteers of the Scouts and Guides at the Maharaja Umaid Singh stadium in Kota.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Parlimentary secretary in charge of public relations Bhawani Singh Rajawat, Chief secretary Anil Vaish, DGP A S Gill and other senior officials of the state government were also present on the occassion.

The impressive cultural program by the school children and the acrobatics presentation by the Rajasthan Armed Constabulary entralled the gathering.

The Governor honoured 54 people from various walks of life for excellence in their respective fields on the occasion.

Reports of the republic day celebrations with impressive parades and cultural programmes were being received from various district headquarters.
