Large number of Russians turn up for R Day parade
New Delhi, Jan 26 (UNI) A large number of Russians today came to watch the magnificent Republic Day parade at Rajpath, where President A P J Abdul Kalam unfurled the National Flag.
The added interest of the Russians, many of them tourists, was because Russian President Vladimir Putin was the Chief Guest at the celebration, said a Russian Embassy official.
Some of these foreigners were from the Russian Embassy and Russian Cultural Centre, said the official added.
Russians and citizens from other former USSR countries visit the Capital as tourists with most living hotels in Paharganj near New Delhi railway station.
Many come here to purchase readymade garments and winter clothings which they resell in their country.
