Foreign Prince leads Army cont at R-Day Parade
New Delhi, Jan 26: For the first time in Indian history, a foreigner led a unit of the Army Contingent at the Republic Day Parade.
Captain Tunku Ismail Ibrahim, grandson of the Sultan of Johar, a state in Malaysia, led the mounted column of the Jaipur-based '61st Cavalry' -- world's only horse mounted unit -- at the Rajpath here.
Ibrahim, commissioned in the Indian Army for the last two years, while leading the '61 Cavalry' during the 'Parade', felt ''honoured and proud'' to be part of the ''world's most disciplined force''.
