Some political leaders in Punjab have crores but no car

Chandigarh, Jan 25 (UNI) Some political leaders in Punjab in the fray for the February 13 assembly polls have assets worth crores, but they do not have a car.

Chief Minister Amarinder Singh who is contesting from Patiala has property assets worth crores, but he does not possess a car in his name. On the other hand Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief and former chief minister Prakash Singh Badal who also has assets running into crores also does not have a car in his name. However, Mr Badal who is contesting from Lambi owns agricultural land and like all landlords he has a tractor in his name.

Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) Shamsher Singh Dullo who is contesting from Khanna (reserve) owes a couple of lakhs to banks, while the multi millionaire and NRI Surjit Singh Rakhra, the SAD nominee from Samana, has assets worth Rs 90 crore. Animal Husbandry and Tourism minister Jagmohan Singh Kang who is in the fray from Morinda has a couple of lakhs in his bank accounts.

Former Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) chief and SAD candidate from Bholath, Bibi Jagir Kaur also has assets running into crores (about Rs 80 crore), she has a car and tractor in her name. Five FIRs are pending against the Bibi and in one case pertaining to the 'death' of her elder daughter Harpreet Kaur, she is facing trial in a CBI court.

Mrs Parneet Kaur, Capt Amarinder Singh's wife , who is the MP from Patiala, has immoveable properties valued at Rs 10 crore, according to the asset disclosures of the Chief Minister. On the other hand Mr Badal's wife, Mrs Surinder Kaur Badal has properties or assets worth about Rs nine crore in her name. Mr Badal himself has agricultural land valued at Rs three crore, houses or bungalows valued at Rs 1.84 crore and shares worth Rs one crore in his name.

The PPCC chief Dullo has assets worth crores, but he owes loans estimated to be about Rs 25 lakh to four banks. Mr Dullo has a Honda City car in his name while his wife and sitting MLA from Khanna, Mrs Harbans Kaur Dullo has a Maruti car in her name. Mr Dullo has agricultural land valued at Rs 2.50 crore in his name and in also a share holder in a private business firm.

Deputy Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, contesting from Lehra Gagga has shares and bonds valued at Rs 82 lakh and agricultural land and other immoveable property worth Rs seven crore in her name and she owes a car.
