Notice to Surjewala on alleged disrespect to anthem

Sirsa, Jan 25 (UNI) A local court today issued notice to Haryana Transport Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala on a complaint that he had shown disrespect to national anthem at a function here last month.

Sirsa Chief Judicial Magistrate R K Dogra issued the notice in response to a plea by Zila Parishad member Gurdev Singh alleging that Mr Surjewala had not bothered to stop when the national anthem was being sung at a PIB function here on December 18.

The complaint said Mr Surjewala was going out of the hall after inaugurating the PIB function when the national anthem began. He, however, allegedly left the venue.

The complainant has urged the court to direct the police to take against the Minister.

The next hearing in the matter has been fixed on March 22.
