HCL posts net profit of Rs 131.60 crore

Kolkata, Jan 25 (UNI) Hindustan Copper Limited, the only vertically integrated producer of refined copper in the country, has posted a net profit after tax of Rs 131.60 crore and a sales turnover of Rs 551.89 crore in the third quarter of the fiscal 2006-2007.

As per the provisional results taken on record by the Board of Directors, the Company registered 82.93 per cent growth in its sales turnover and 388.67 per cent growth in its net profit after tax over the corresponding quarter of the previous year, a company release here said.

The company had adopted specific measures for maximising capacity utilisation of its copper mines and plants.

Besides, developmental activities at its mines at Malanjkhand in Madhya Pradesh and at Khetri in Rajasthan will help the company further increase production of copper concentrate and reduce dependence on import of the raw material.
