BJP office bearers list to be announced by January 31: Rajnath

New Delhi, Jan 25 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party will come out with its Office Bearers and National Executive list by January 31, party president Rajnath Singh today said.

Talking to reporters at the lunch hosted by BJP MP Shahnawaz Hussain in the honour of Deputy Leader of BJP group in Parliament Vijay Kumar Malhotra to commemorate his 75th birth day, Mr Singh hinted that the list will accommodate many new faces along with old hands, but declined to elaborate.

Asked about the reason for the delay, Mr Singh contended that there was no delay and said he was to announce the list in January and would comply with his words.

The announcement of officer bearers is a constitutional requirement as Mr Singh has been re-elected as party President in December his election was subsequently ratified by the National Council at Lucknow.

Several top politicians from various parties attended the lunch hosted at Mr Hussain's Pandit Pant Marg residence. The leaders who attended included Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dixit, Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh, Nationalist Congress Party General Secretary Tariq Anwar, senior BJP leaders Murli Manohar Joshi, Delhi BJP Chief Harshvardhan, Union Water Resources Minister Saifuddin Soz and Congress MPs Mr Rajeev Shukla and Rashid Alvi.
