Baljinder Singh of Punjab University bags gold

Bangalore, Jan 25 (UNI) Baljinder Singh of Punjab University won gold in the 67th All India Inter-Varsity Athletics Championship which began at Sree Kanteerava Stadium here today.

Baljinder took One hour 39:11.9 secs to win 20000 M walk event.

Hardeep Singh of Gurunanak Dev University, Amrutsar and Kaviraj Mardemootoo of L N Mithila University, Darbhanga (Bihar) had to be satisfied with Silver and Bronze respectively.

More than 2000 athlets, including 750 Women, from 130 University are participating in the Championship. Altogether 43 events, including 21 for Women and 22 for Men will be held during four-day Championship.

Result: 20000 M Walk-Men: Baljinder Singh (Pun) I, Hardeep Singh (GDU) II, Kaviraj Mardemootoo (LNCPE) III. T: 1:39:11.9 Secs.
