Two women and a man arrested for running fake institutes
New Delhi, Jan 24 (UNI) With the arrest of two sisters and a 58-year-old man police today claimed to have busted a syndicate running fake educational institutes and thereby duping more than a 100 students of lakhs of rupees.
Kumud Varshney (35) and Manju Varshney (38), who ran 'Aditya College - Shalimar Bagh' and 'Jyoti College - Mori Gate', were arrested on January 18 on a complaint by several students who said they had been falsely induced to take admission for exams for various Hindi language courses which could fetch them degrees equivalent to B Ed, 12th and 10th classes, according to the police.
One of their associates Jugal Kishore (58), who ran 'Malviya Adarsh Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya' and 'Indian Career Institute - Geeta Colony', was also arrested on January 22.
However, another of their 'collegue' Rakesh Sharma, who ran the 'PSS Public School - Begampura' in Modi Nagar (UP) and 'Indian Carrier Institute - Geeta Colony' (Delhi), was absconding.
The accused would enrol students for various Hindi language degree courses like Prathama equivalent to 10th, Madhyma equivalent to 12th, Uttama equivalent to Graduation and Shiksha Visharad equivalent to B.Ed, by claiming to have entered into agreements with a bogus institute called 'Hindi Sahitya Sammelan Prayag' in Allahabad. which resembled in its name with the prestigious 'Hindi Sahitya Sammelan' at Allahabad.
They would charge Rs 10,000 for the B Ed course.
