New Delhi, Jan 24 (UNI) Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy today urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to take note of the ''bad omen'' of the breaking of 107 tonne imported steel dredger into two parts near Rameshwaram and reformulate the Sethu Samudram project.

In a statement, Dr Swamy said the existence of a 30 km-long famous bridge across the sea to Sri Lanka built 1,750,000 years ago by the Vanara Sena, led by monkey god Hanuman, was even acknowledged by the NASA satellite.

Media reports had stated that the imported dredger had broken into two pieces before sinking near the bridge renamed as 'Adam's Bridge' during the Mughal rule. The UPA should know about this 'lakshanam' and thus reformulate the project to avoid the mythological bridge, he added.

He said he had filed a petition before World Heritage Convention of UNESCO to declare the Ram Sethu as a world heritage site as it met six cultural criteria for inclusion.

The Ramanathapuram district court had issued notices to the Union Government on a petition filed by an RSS worker questioning the demolition of the bridge.

The Government should not move in a haste ''like Ravana'' and the Prime Minister should intervene and stop the ''Taliban-like madness'' against the civilisation and history, Dr Swamy said.
