Northern Command investiture ceremony held at Akhnoor

Jammu, Jan 24 (UNI) Lt Gen H S Panag, GOC-in-C Northern Command, today presented 21 Sena Medals (SMs), three Vishist Seva Medals (VSMs) and 25 Army Commander's appreciation cards to the soldiers for their gallantry and distinguished service here at X 'Crossed Swords' Army Division in Akhnoor.

Two of the awards were presented posthumously to next of kin of the martyrs. Ms Gerro Devi, mother of Sepoy Rajesh Kumar (24 PUNJAB) and Ms Sushma Sharma, wife of Naik Om Raj (12 JAK L I) recieved the medals from the Army Commander.

Speaking at the function, Lt Gen Panag commended the awardees for having shown exemplary courage and devotion to duty while carrying out difficult tasks.

He paid also tributes to the soldiers, who made the supreme sacrifice.
