Lucknow, Jan 24 (UNI) Even as the tempers of opposition members in Uttar Pradesh assembly ran high, Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today rejected their demand to recommend CBI probe in the Allahabad madarsa gang rape incident.

''Senior minister Ahmad Hasan has rushed to Allahabad to take stock of the situation and I assure you, no culprit will be spared,'' Mr Yadav told the House during discussion on the incident, in which two girls of a madarsa were gang raped on January 17 night.

He said his government had already recommended CBI probe in Nithari killings and Dr Kavita Rani case of Meerut, but the madarsa case did not require probe by the apex investigation agency.

The government, however, had suspended the Kareli police station officer of Allahabad in connection with the incident.

The CM, who had earlier announced to seek confidence vote for his government in the assembly tomorrow, said he would give details of the incident in the House tomorrow. ''I will also try to clear misconception created by the opposition parties about the law and order in UP.'' Without mincing words, Mr Yadav said the opposition was playing politics over the bodies of children, although the Nithari matter had already been handed over to the CBI.

Blaming Congress for conspiring to delay the UP assmebly poll, the Chief Minister said his government wanted the election in February, but there was a plan to defer it even beyond May 14, the day when the term of the present assembly expires.

Earlier, the assembly was to be adjourned following vociferous scenes created by all the opposition parties over the law and order situation in the state.

The agitated members from BSP, BJP and Congress were demanding CBI probe in the madarsa rape case and a detailed discussion on the issue in the House. They castigated the Mulayam Singh government on the issue of rising crime.

UP assmebly speaker Mata Prasad Pandey had adjourned the House for about an hour following the din.

He, however, allowed the House to deliberate on the issue after it re-assembled. Pramod Tiwari (Congress) and the leader of the opposition Lalji Tandon (BJP) raised the issue declaring that the state had failed to contain crime.

They along with some BSP members, alleged that the government had been insensitive towards growing crime in UP. BSP leader in the House, Swami Prasad Maurya, went to the extent alleging the ruling Samajwadi Party activists were behind the sensational madarsa case.
