Delhi Transco agreement with TERI to promote energy efficiency

New Delhi, Jan 24 (UNI) The Delhi Transco Ltd today entered into an agreement with the Tata Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy in Delhi.

The agreement, signed by DTL and TERI on the occasion of Delhi Sustainable Development Summit (DSDS), is aimed at carrying forward goals of renewal energy and promoting energy efficiency over the next few years.

Under this partnership, TERI will help DTL create baseline data collection, analysis and research and design of energy efficiency programmes for different categories of users and assist it in implementing the energy efficiency programmes.

A Memorandum of Understanding for the partnership was signed by Chief Managing Director Delhi Transco Ltd Rakesh Mehta and Director General of TERI R K Pachauri.

Present on the occasion were former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Digvijay Singh, President International Council on Clean Transportation US Alan C Lloyd, Principal Secretary and Commissioner (Forest&Rural Development) Government of Uttaranchal Vibha Puri Das, Principal Secretary (UD) Delhi Vivek Rae and Principal Secretary (Environment) in Maharashtra Sharwaree Gokhle.

The agreement also provides for partnership with industrial organisations like CII, ASSOCHAM and FICCI for promoting energy efficiency in the industrial sector.

As part of its efforts to promote renewable energy and energy efficiency, DTL had set up energy efficiency and renewal energy Management Centre (EE&REM) in July last year which has since taken bold initiatives in promoting energy efficient CFL lamps and electronic chokes through innovative schemes.
