Code of conduct violation case against Minister

Jalandhar, Jan 23: A complaint of violation of model code of conduct has been lodged against Minister of State Gurkanwal Kaur who is seeking reelection from Cantonment assembly segment of Jalandhar.

An official spokesman said that complaint of violating the mode code of conduct by exceeding the limit of number of vehicles in the procession carried out by the minister's supporters before filing her nomination papers, was received and the district electoral officer had refered the same to the police for lodging a case.

However, minister Gurkanwal Kaur told soures that she did not commit violation of the guidelines.

Meanwhile, similar case has also been refered against Shiromani Akali Dal nominee Jagbir Brar from the same constituency, the spokesman said.
