Amitabh is SP's pracharak: BJP
Lucknow, Jan 24 (UNI) Alleging all round failure in the Mulayam Singh Yadav regime, the opposition BJP, BSP, Congress and RLD said there is no rule of law in Uttar Pradesh.
Initiating the debate on the governor's address in the assembly, Leader of the Opposition Lalji Tandon said had the situation in UP not been serious, cinestar Amitabh Bachchan would not have been roped in to do advertisement for the ruling Samajwadi Party.
''Now Amitabh has turned into a 'pracharak' of the ruling SP, when the people of UP have refused to acknowledge the claims of the state government,'' Mr Tandon said.
Castigating the State Government, the BJP leader said acquisition of prime agricultural land for the MNCs and supporting the upcoming retail outlets of big companies proves SP's pseudo-socialist character.
''If they continue to give a red carpet welcome to industrialists, then they should be ready to provide coffins to farmers,'' he said.
The debate also witnessed noisy scenes when the treasury and opposition benches opposed each other on certain comments on the government. Leaders of the Opposition have also moved amendment motion in the governor's address, which was read on January 18 amid din in the House.
Mr Tandon mentioned several incidents of crime, including Nithari and Allahabad madarsa gangrape case.
BSP legislature party leader Swami Prasad Maurya said anarchy was prevailing in the state and there is no rule of law.
''The incidents of Nithari and Allahabad are only an example of the insensitivity of the government,'' he added.
Congress legisalture party leader Pramod Tiwari noted that mafias were running a parallel government in UP and the Public Distribution System (PDS) had collapsed.
