ABMCM sets up award in memory of Film-maker V Shantaram

Kolhapur, Jan 24 (UNI) Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal (ABMCM) has set-up an award in the name of 'Chitrapati V Shantaram' for the best Marathi film from this year.

ABMCM in a release issued here today said that the award named 'Chitrapati V Shantaram award' has been set up in memory of the great film-maker late V Shantaram, who served Marathi and Hindi film industry for about seven decades.

V Shantaram in his film career had rendered his services with various steps for the development of Marathi film industry and he trained directors, actors, artists, technicians actively in Marathi and Hindi films, the release said.

A film for this award will be selected from the films released between January one, 2006, to December 31, 2006, and those interested to participate in this process should set their nominations by February five, 2007, the release added.
