A mixed trend witnessed in Metal prices

Mumbai, Jan 24 (UNI) Metal prices showed a mixed trend here today, while prices in the London Metal Exchange edged up slightly, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange informed.

In the ferrous section, copper heavy and copper utensils went up by Rs 200 each per quintal. Brass cuttings also hiked by Rs 100 on heavy demand from retailers while aluminium utensils slid by Rs 100 on sustained heavy selling.

In the non-ferrous section, copper wire bar shot up by Rs 300 per quintal owing to less stock supply, while aluminium ingot eased by Rs 100 per quintal on thin buying support.

Tin slab and nickel cathode increased by Rs four and Rs 30 per kilogram respectively on higher advice.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 30,800, copper utensils - Rs 29,200, brass utensils - Rs 22,900, brass cuttings - Rs 25,100 and aluminium utensils - Rs 11,300.

Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 34,200, aluminium ingots - Rs 14,300, zinc slab - Rs 20,200, lead ingots - Rs 7,500, tin slab - Rs 615 (per kg) and nickel cathode - Rs 1,930 (per kg).
