Panaji, Jan 23 (UNI) The Goa Legislative Assembly today witnessed noisy scenes after Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane made some remarks against BJP leader Manohar Parrikar during the Question Hour.

With the Opposition launching a protest, Speaker Francisco Sardinha urged the House to maintain ''decency and decorum'' pointing out that people were watching the procedings of the House.

The Chief Minister's remarks came when Mr Parrikar was seeking clarifications regarding the controversial Regional Plan-2011. The Speaker said he was expunging the remarks of the Chief Minister.

When Housing Minister Babu Azgaonkar, who recently quit his membership of the House as a BJP member to join the Congress, tried to support the Chief Minister, Mr Parrikar pointed out that the Minister was not a member of the House and, therefore, had no right to speak in the Question Hour.

At this stage, the Speaker intervened again and asked the Chief Minister to ask his minister to behave.

With the trading of allegations and counter allegations related to holding of properties by the members continued unabated, the Chair cut short the discussion by switching over to the next question.
