HC warns LU students against forcible occupation of hostels

Lucknow, Jan 22 (UNI) Taking suo moto cognisance of media reports regarding forcible occupation of Lucknow University hostels by the students and violation of court order, Allahabad High Court has asked the students against using force to occupy hostels.

The order was passed by a Lucknow division bench comprising Justices Pradeep Kant and Sanjay Mishra.

Several newspapers had reported forcible occupation of varsity hostels on January 21 without allotment.

The bench observed no student had any right to occupy hostel in such a manner and in future action would be taken against the guilty persons.

Meanwhile, the court has asked for a report from the Uttar Pradesh government regarding action taken in the matter.
