Former Kerala Deputy Speaker passes away
Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 21: Former Kerala Deputy Speaker Sundaran Nadar died at Medical College Hospital here, following a cardiac arrest today.
He was 76 and is survived by wife, two sons and one daughter.
Mr Nadar was admitted to the Medical College Hospital yesterday following chest pain. He died today morning.
Started his political life while in school, he joined the Government service as Gram Sevak during 1954 and resigned from his job in 1960.
He then joined the Indian National Congress and worked as Block Committee President and later became its Block Development Committee Chairman in 1970.
He had also served as DCC Vice President, KPCC member and Executive member during the period between 1987-90. He had represented the Parassala assembly constituency many times.
Mr Nadar had also served as the Minister for Transport, Rural Development and Agriculture during the period 1983-87.
He recently joined the Democratic Indira Congress, floated by K Karunakaran, which later merged with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). He was nominated to the Central Committee of the NCP recently.
