Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, Jan 21: The 'Crocodile fear factor' was not allowing the Navy divers and expert swimmers to go into deep waters to trace out the bodies of 64 persons from Krishna river who drowned when the country-made boat in which they were crossing the river capsized on January 18.

According to the officials of the district administration, the divers were afraid to make an inroad because the river is full of crocodiles though they were engaged in retrieving the bodies with life supporting equipments. The swimmers and divers were of little help, as they were reportedly hesitating to reach deep into the river, fearing the attacks of crocodiles.

They said the river was one of the biggest reserves for crocodiles, hence there could be a delay in retrieving the bodies. However, the divers and swimmers were making all possible efforts.

The Government would take measures to tackle the crocodile fear factor, if the same situation prevailed. Necessary and alternative arrangements would be made to retrieve the bodies, overcoming the crocodile fear among the rescue teams.

However, the teams were assured that they no longer have to fear for crocodile attacks.
