AP Govt to construct new airports in eight districts
Hyderabad, Jan 20 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to take up the construction of new airports in eight districts besides launching operations at two airports which were already under construction in Warangal and Kadapa towns.
Talking to newspersons here today about the decisions taken in the cabinet meet presided over by the Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, the State Information and Public Relations Minister Mohd Ali Shabbir said the flight operations will be launched at Warangal and Kadapa this year after completing the required formalities to take off the flights.
Stating that the government would also take steps to upgrade the Visakhapatnam airport as an international airport, Mr Shabbir said the government was conducting a study of techno-economic feasibility to take up new eight airport projects in the state. After completing the study, the government would invite bidding for the airports construction, he added.
The new porjects would be taken up at Ramagundam in Karimnagar district, Kothagudem in Khammam district, Ongole in Prakasham district, Nellore, Kurnool, Tadepalligudem in West Godavari, Anantapur and Nizamabad.
