Sarna to campaign against Badal in Punjab polls
Chandigarh, Jan 19 (UNI) After retaining power in the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) elections, Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi) chief Paramjit Singh Sarna will campaign in Punjab against the Badal-led Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).
Explaining his election campaign for the anti-Badal Akali factions across Punjab, Mr Sarna said he would ''expose Badal for his misdeeds and as a failure in resolving various panthic issues''.
''Mr Badal has been playing in the hands of RSS and has turned his back to the panthic issues,'' Mr Sarna told UNI on phone from Delhi.
Without naming any specific Akali faction, he said he would campaign for those Akalis who had vowed to defeat the Badal-led said.
Mr Sarna claimed that Mr Badal and other SAD leaders were corrupt and had failed to fight the cause of those Sikh youths who were still languishing in prisons.
''Of course our victory will make impact on the Punjab elections, not only in urban areas but also in rural segments as I will campaign in both. I will tell the people of Punjab about his (Badal's) misdeeds,'' Mr Sarna said, when asked whether his victory in Delhi Gurdwara elections would make any impact in urban areas in Punjab.
The Sarna-led Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi) had won 26 seats, while the Badal-led SAD got 12 seats in the elections to the 46-member DSGMC on January 16.
