Lack of assured income among girls brew social problems:Mehbooba

Srinagar, Jan 19 (UNI) Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti today said the employment generation package for educated unemployed girls in the budget was the need of the hour as lack of assured sources of income among them brews various social problems.

In a statement here, she hailed the budget proposals, especially for employment generation. The scheme was a timely initiative that need to be pursued with focused attention to confront the unemployment challenge, Ms Mufti added.

She said the announcement of the employment generation package for educated unemployed girls in the budget was the need of the hour as lack of assured sources of income among the women brews various social problems.

''We have been raising the issue for quite some time because I know what kind of problems the educated unemployed girls are facing in the society,'' Ms Mufti added.

The government must provide adequate funds for the implementation of the scheme in a time-bound manner, she said and asked the educated girls to take full advantage of it to earn livelihood for themselves and their families.
