Health insurance for BPL families to be introduced
Bangalore, Jan 19 (UNI) The Karnataka Government will soon introduce 'Suvarna Arogya Vime' health insurance policy for Below Poverty Line families on a pilot basis in more than 50 taluks, Health Minister R Ashok said today.
Talking to reporters here, he said the government have earmarked Rs 35 crore in the budget for implementing the policy. The matter would be taken up in the next Cabinet meeting.
The Minister said the Government would bear the policy premium amount for the BPL families and the beneficiaries would be eligible for treatment of up to Rs 30,000 annually. The policy would not, however, cover people suffering from HIV/AIDS, he added.
