Farmers to agaitate against land acquisition on Jan 22

Mysore, Jan 19 (UNI) The Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS), Dalita Sangharsha Samiti and other organisations will take out a procession and stage a demonstration here on January 22, protesting against acquisition of farm lands in and around the city.

Speaking to newspersons here, KRRS President K S Puttanaiah said the Government had issued preliminary notification to acquire about 7,000 acres of farm lands for locating industries. The Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board, the nodal agency for acquiring lands, had no yardstick to fix market rates for farm lands.

He urged Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to provide details about his offer to waive off farm loans as many cooperative banks were facing recovery problems following the statement.
