BJP demands discussion on Nithari in Assembly
Lucknow, Jan 19 (UNI) Alleging the Mulayam Singh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh has ''demolished the propriety of the legislature'', the Bharatiya Janata Party today demanded special discussion on Nithari killings in the assembly.
It was a poor reflexation of the ruling party as the governor was not allowed to read out his address to the joint session of the legislature yesterday, the party leaders claimed.
''The Samajwadi Party-led government in the state has become immune to the social problems and avoiding debates on such issues'', BJP state unit president Kesari Nath Tripathi and Leader of Opposition Lalji Tandon said here in a press conference.
Questioning the convening of the winter session of the UP assembly and that too for a brief period, the BJP leaders said there was no use of it unless the opposition was allowed to be heard properly.
Mr Tripathi said that his party was not eager to move no-confidence motion in the house only because he knew the oppostion would not get enough time to express their views. ''The government just does not want its failures to be highlighted,'' he said.
He said the issues like Nithari and Dr Kavita case of Meerut required sufficient attention in the legislature which the SP-led dispensation was avoiding right through. ''BJP demands an extended assembly session to accomodate such issues for discussion,'' the BJP chief said.
Charging with the SP to lure legislators of opposition parties to get them in its party fold, both the leaders said it amounted to political misconduct and should be condemned by all. ''One of my party legislators was approached by ruling party and offered to join SP,''Mr Tripathi disclosed.
